GERALD HICKEY WINS 2006 GOLDEN APPLE

It is a tremendous honor to recognize Mr. Gerald Hickey as the seventh annual Greece Teachers Association's Golden Apple Teacher of The Year winner.  The son of an educator, Jerry leaves behind a legacy of energy, enthusiasm and compassion.  Countless students and families uniformly cite the excitement Jerry brings into the classroom. But it doesn't end with dismissal.  Jerry's school day is routinely a little longer; as is his school year, with each extra moment dedicated to making something special occur for the students in his room. What a gift it is to make education come alive for so many. With Jerry's retirement Greece Central will lose someone of remarkable integrity. We who have worked with Jerry have the privilege to call him a colleague.  Gifted athletes make their teams better, gifted teachers make the world better.
